Learning for Life! – part 4

“How to Relieve Your Stress”

4 KEYS TO RELIEVING STRESS

1. CHECK YOUR PRIORITIES.

“Sensible people keep their eyes glued on wisdom, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.” Proverbs 17:24

“Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in

wisdom.” Psalm 90:12

2. ADJUST YOUR SCHEDULE.

“A hard-working farmer has plenty to eat, but it is stupid to waste

time on useless projects.” Proverbs 12:11 (GNT)

“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”

Proverbs 16:9

For Less Stress: Don’t ADD anything without SUBTRACTING

something.

3. LIGHTEN UP YOUR ATTITUDE.

“A relaxed attitude lengthens a man’s life;…”

Proverbs 14:30a (TLB)

“Being cheerful keeps you healthy.  It is a slow death to be gloomy

all the time.” Proverbs 17:22 (GNT)

Watch out for 3 attitudes:

  • PRIDE  -  I can DO it all!

“Pride goes before destruction; a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Proverbs 16:18 (NIV)

“Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones.” Proverbs 3:7-8

  • ENVY  -  I can BE it all!

“A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.” Proverbs 14:30 (NIV)

  • GREED  -  I can HAVE it all!

“Don’t wear yourself out trying to get rich; be wise enough to control yourself.”  Proverbs 23:4 (NCV)

“The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25

4. CHECK YOUR HEART.

“Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.”

Proverbs 12:25 (NIV)

“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’” Matthew 11:28
